The Compliance Operations Lead - Sanctions position is responsible for managing, coaching, and empowering the Sanctions team, as well as having a comprehensive understanding of the various sanctions program types, and how sanctions cross-functionally relates to other areas of Compliance. (Particularly screening and geo-controls) In addition to their daily tasks, the Sanctions Lead will be responsible for maintaining the current program, and working with program stakeholders to continue to build out the Sanctions Operations program at Airbnb.

Duties:

  • Manage an operations team that work in sanctions functions (screening & geo-control)
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to the team on industry best-practices for Sanctions, Airbnb procedures, and Compliance tools
  • Provide quality assurance analysis and reviews
  • Lead procedure changes that may impact multiple teams and/or regions with the support of the management team
  • Assess and communicate control effectiveness, and present program findings, trends, and operational metrics to management
  • Program improvement via partnership with the Sanctions Program Management team
  • Accurately identify and escalate compliance risks and opportunities to the leadership team

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or technical equivalent
  • 5+ years experience in related field (financial institutions, financial service providers or KYC/AML/Sanctions), or Bachelors in a Compliance-related field (Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Finance, etc)
  • 2+ years of management experience or equivalent
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate compliance requirements to a non-compliance audience
  • Exceptional organization and process management ability
  • High level of personal integrity, interest in payments as evidenced by related work experience, proven dedication to excellence, leadership qualities and a flexible, creative, innovative approach to problem solving
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Certification (CGSS, ACAMS, ACFCS, etc)
  • SQL Experience
  • Customer-facing experience
  • Knowledge of G-suite products and applications
  • Language skills: Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Arabic
