The Senior Manager, Global Travel & Expense is responsible for leading Airbnb’s strategy to support business travel and expenses management for our global employees.  With offices in 19 countries and employees now distributed in countless other locations, this role will have the opportunity to define a philosophy for an evolved business travel and expense program which is responsive to how our business and employees operate in a post-COVID world.  This role will design and lead internal travel programs which embrace the spirit of Hosting through excellent support to our employees, while also achieving our ambitions of a profitable core business with sustainability as a core principle.  The Senior Manager, Global Travel & Expense may be based anywhere in the domestic U.S. and will report to the Director, Global Real Estate & Business Travel.

Duties &  Responsibilities

  • Establish a vision for a holistic approach to travel and expense programs
  • Design systems and programs which complement each aspect of the travel and expense experience
  • Manage vendor relationships with credit card providers, travel management companies, airlines, expense management providers and ground transportation partners
  • Align a scalable systems philosophy that efficiently delivers against program goals
  • Develop programs to support a more mobile, post-COVID workforce
  • Coordinate with cross functional stakeholders to lead change management, employee facing communications
  • Lead partner team responsible for expense management, audit, and reporting
  • Function as the internal subject matter expert for travel and expense 
  • Monitor and measure performance by key suppliers and maintain metrics that demonstrate cost effectiveness
  • Develop and manage regular cadence of reporting to enable transparency and accountability

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of industry experience developing and managing global travel programs
  • Experience leading programs and external partner teams via objective performance criteria
  • Strong communication and organizational management skills
  • Self starter, capable of translating complex business requirements into program solutions
  • Develop outstanding cross functional relationships
  • Prior experience developing T&E programs at similarly sized organizations
