The communications team is responsible for telling the Airbnb story around the world. We aim to build and maintain a positive reputation through world class communications campaigns that drive favourable press coverage and awareness.

As Corporate and Policy Communications Manager for France and Belgium, you will join a small but very active team in a major and high profile market for the company.  You will protect the brand and help build a positive reputation with media and policy stakeholders, working closely with the local policy team as well as the regional news team based in London.

You will work alongside the local policy team and help to educate the public about the Airbnb Community, highlight the positive social and economic impact of our platform, and help highlight in press how we work together with regulators and tourism organisations on common-sense rules for home sharers. You will also manage efforts to promote our corporate reputation, supporting the release of earnings to local media, executive profiling and issues management.

You will leverage your knowledge of the media and complex policy situations to develop relevant proactive comms strategies that make a significant positive impact with Airbnb stakeholders; our community, policy makers and press. Maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and building effective cross functional campaigns is crucial to the success of the role.

You will be working directly with journalists, managing media enquiries and helping to deliver communications plans. We’re looking for a passionate, articulate and savvy communicator who can work under pressure within tight deadlines. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Communications Lead to develop robust and effective corporate and policy communications strategies that drive favourability and positive awareness in France & Belgium
  • Handling proactive and reactive policy communications in market, liaising with key stakeholders including French campaign lead and team
  • Be responsible for executing complex campaigns to drive proactive positive results and be adept at problem solving
  • Draft written materials - story pitches, press releases, messaging guidelines, Q&As, briefs, presentations, speeches etc.
  • Manage agency partners in the assigned markets 
  • Prepare briefings for media interviews and public speaking engagements
  • Understand the media market and develop relationships with key reporters  
  • Handle a busy press office; management of the French social media accounts
  • Handle internal reporting of the French communications team activity

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years corporate and / or policy comms experience, either working in a communications agency or in-house 
  • Fluent French and English is mandatory
  • Excellent writing and strong verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in media relations with an established media network
  • Ability to initiate, manage and deliver proactive press projects including research/data-led stories, campaigns, press events, press trips 
  • Experience with complex regulatory issues in a political environment 
  • Experience working on projects in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Maintaining enthusiasm and calm demeanor in stressful situations
  • Passion for Airbnb and the mission of the company
  • Ability to travel, sometimes on short notice
