The Community You Will Join: 

Airbnb’s Design team is looking for a Lead Production Designer to enhance production practices and processes across design. As a design leader they will be instrumental in refining our design systems and ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency while delivering on product vision. 

 

The Difference You Will  Make: 

As a Lead Production Designer, you will play a key role in partnering with Airbnb’s design teams to deliver exceptional experiences for both Hosts and Guests. You will be responsible for refining production practices, managing and supporting our design systems and documentation, creating detailed specs, redlining work from design partners, working with engineers to ensure parity between design and engineering, making sure that every detail meets the highest standards of quality, accessibility and globalization.

You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contributing to the delivery of polished designs that are core to the Airbnb experience.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned Production Designer who has a deep understanding of creating detailed production specifications, redlining complex designs and refining design systems for consumer-facing products. They should excel in vision setting, clear communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Success in this role will be measured by the quality, collaboration, consistency and precision of your work.

This role is a Lead Experience Designer and operates as an individual contributor (IC),  reporting to a Senior Manager of Experience Design, DLS

 

A Typical Day: 

  • Leads medium to large scale projects
  • Develop pixel perfect designs for product implementation
  • Design for different platforms including iOS, Android, web and mobile web
  • Create, maintain, and distribute easy to use templates for reusable, systematic design
  • Produce clear design specs/redlines referencing our design language system (DLS)
  • QA work to ensure designs and creative assets are rendered appropriately in product
  • Partner with engineers to ensure there is design parity that  is design system compliant and on brand
  • Document design processes and workflows
  • Assist with the creation of documentation and documentation maintenance
  • Partner daily with cross functional partners including product, engineering, research and QA
  • Contribute new components and icon designs to our Design Language System (DLS) ensuring that they are both complaint to DLS and Accessibility

 

Your Experience:  

  • 8 + years of Production Design experience in a product and/or marketing setting
  • You are enthusiastic about details - a pixel perfectionist!
  • Expert creative and technical problem solver with a fanatical attention to detail
  • Experience with asset optimization for various platforms and mediums
  • Experience creating, maintaining and working on design systems, tokens and variables
  • Mastery of Figma including components, shared libraries and branching
  • Self directed, solution oriented and ability to work autonomously
  • Proven cross functional skills and experience in stakeholder management
  • Proficiency in the following design tools: Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator 

 

Additional Knowledge and Skills:

  • A demonstrated ability with automation
  • Proficiency in visual design - iconography, user interfaces
  • Familiarity with JIRA, GitHub and other agile management tools
  • Familiarity with prototyping tools (ie Principle, Invision, Framer)
  • Strong understanding of accessibility and globalization best practices

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
