The Privacy team is committed to defining our policies and standards and ensuring implementation through communication, product features, workflows and tools, and taking actions when users violate our policies and community standards.

Our Privacy team is entrusted with implementing and maintaining a world-class privacy program and supporting our product and engineering work to deliver a respected and trusted experience to the Airbnb community and to maintain compliance with all applicable privacy & data protection laws.

A Typical Day: 

As a key member of the Privacy team, you will partner with other privacy professionals across the company to:

  • Develop, implement, and optimize workflows that enhance the efficiency of privacy operations, including data access requests, incident response, and compliance monitoring.
  • Identify and evaluate new tools and technologies that can support privacy operations efficiency, coverage, and scalability. 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, and IT, to align privacy tooling initiatives with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze privacy operations data and generate reports to identify trends, potential risks, and compliance issues, providing insights for decision-making and improvement strategies.
  • Provide training and support to team members and stakeholders on privacy tools and workflows, ensuring that everyone understands their role in maintaining data privacy.
  • Monitor changes in privacy laws and regulations, ensuring that tooling and workflows remain compliant and up to date.
  • Respond to privacy incidents effectively, utilizing tools to investigate and mitigate issues, while documenting processes and outcomes for future reference.
  • Regularly assess and update privacy workflows and tools based on feedback, evolving best practices, and technological advancements.

Your Expertise:

  • 4+ years of program or project management experience
  • 4+ years experience in privacy, compliance, security operations and program management, preferably in a global B2C technology company
  • Collaboration, partnership and influencing skills with the ability to work in a global environment across multiple locations and time zones to drive consensus and deliver results in cross-functional teams.
  • Developing interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication ability to interface well with technical, operations and business partners at all levels.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product and engineering teams to gather requirements and contribute to the implementation of technical tools.
  • Proven ability to translate policy and business requirements, collaborating with business stakeholders at all levels to create solutions.
  • Proven ability to complete privacy reviews effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Time management and prioritization capabilities.
  • Some understanding of strategy development concepts and shows an interest in program management.
  • Starting to develop the capability to, directly and indirectly, lead cross-functional teams through success.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or equivalent professional certification is not required, but preferred

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
