The Difference You Will Make

We’re looking for a Consumer Communications Manager to help tell the Airbnb story in Italy. This role will develop and execute compelling consumer comms campaigns aimed at driving awareness, favourability, and consideration of Airbnb among Italian travelers and the broader public.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly with journalists, celebrities and influencers, liaising with agency partners, managing media enquiries and event coordination, gathering stories from within our host and guest community and helping to develop and deliver communications plans. 

Reporting to the Communications Lead, Italy & South East Europe, you’ll work cross-functionally with teams in marketing, community,  partnerships, and public policy to deliver proactive initiatives and maintain a steady drumbeat of compelling stories in the media to support business objectives 

A Typical Day

  • Support the execution of global and local communications strategies to highlight Airbnb’s value to guests, Hosts, and Italian communities. 
  • Develop and localize press materials (press releases, story pitches, Q&As, talking points, etc.).
  • Identify timely media opportunities and help manage day-to-day press office operations.
  • Work with journalists, influencers, and cultural voices to tell Airbnb stories that resonate with Italian audiences.
  • Coordinate with agency partners to deliver projects on time and with impact, ensuring consistent reporting and tracking.
  • Liaise with our community of hosts and guests to identify storytelling opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, public policy, and other stakeholders to ensure message alignment and campaign integration.
  • Prepare briefings and talking points for internal stakeholders, media interviews, and public speaking engagements.
  • Provide media counsel and guidance to team members and internal partners.

Your Expertise

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, either in a PR agency or in-house team. Experience in lifestyle, tech, consumer, or travel brands is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Native-level Italian speaker and fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong media relations skills and existing relationships with key media contacts in Italy.
  • Proven ability to create and deliver proactive, creative campaigns that drive earned media coverage.
  • Comfortable working with data, insights, trends, and community stories to shape narratives.
  • A solid understanding of Italy’s media, cultural, and social landscape.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in fast-paced, matrixed environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
