We're accepting applications for a position as a Staff Policy Economist (part of Airbnb’s Data Science organization) to ensure policy and regulatory engagements are data-driven.
The position offers an opportunity to provide meaningful insights both within Airbnb and to communities across the world. It will be a staff-level role on the data science team, supporting Airbnb’s legal affairs team on policy and regulatory topics.
The nature of this position requires working with many cross-functional internal teams (public policy, communications, economics, business, finance, analytics) as well as external stakeholders (experts, academics, regulators, and media). Candidates should be able to navigate these environments, operating independently and driving their own agenda, but must also work well in a multi-stakeholder setting. A teamwork mentality and a “no task too big or too small” attitude are key.
Candidates should have a strong background in data modeling and analytics, and demonstrated skill in organizing, communicating, and presenting analysis via visualizations, dashboards, maps, and other tools.
The scope of work includes quantitative analysis of numerous outward-facing topics, including economic development/impact, taxes, housing, tourism, marketplace dynamics, trust and safety, regulation. Distillation of sometimes complex analyses into accessible and scalable resources is key. Work output may be internal or external facing.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
